What did you have for breakfast this morning? Or did you skip breakfast? I know there are a lot of reasons why some people choose to skip their AM meal, but there are so many healthy benefits you’ll be missing out on! Here’s just a few of the benefits:
- Breakfast eaters weigh less. Numerous studies looking at survey data or following groups of people over time have found an association between weight gain and missing breakfast. Check out this study from Australia for example.
- Breakfast eaters may be less likely to develop Type 2 Diabetes. Data from the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study indicated that men who skipped breakfast were up to 21% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
- Breakfast eaters better meet their daily micronutrient needs. The main reason for this is that breakfast cereals are fortified with micronutrients. Also, you are more likely to make healthier choices when eating a third breakfast meal than if you made up for the meal in not-so-healthy snacks throughout the day.
